People

The HUTTON family

The CARTWRIGHT family were at one time lords of the manor of Ahyno. In 1669 one William CARTWRIGHT of Ayhno married Ursula FAIRFAX, half-sister-in-law to Richard HUTTON, grandchild of Archbishop Matthew HUTTON of York (via Sir Thomas HUTTON) and descended from the HUTTONS of Popplestone, Yorkshire.

Richard HUTTON's son Matthew HUTTON (1638/9-) served as rector of Ahyno from March 1676/7.

It is uncertain whether these HUTTONs had any connection with Ralph HATTON (c.1612-d.1694/5) at nearby Fritwell, Oxfordshire or Michael HUTTON papermaker at Deddington, Oxfordshire.
